Edward Tang is an artist, designer, and technologist living in Seattle, WA. He received his MPS from the Interactive Telecommunications Program and his BM in Music Technology at New York University. He was a classical violinist and pianist since the age of 6 and was an active soloist and ensemble musician for nearly 16 years.
He has worked as a freelance music and digital audio editor for broadcast television and new media in New York City, apprenticing at (and having made two on screen appearances as a violinist on) the ABC soap opera All My Children and later doing the audio for Heavy.com’s web cartoons and DVD releases.
During his time at ITP, he shifted his interests to include internet culture, interactive design and computer graphics and pursued opportunities to exhibit his design and art works. He has exhibited digital works in venues and festivals all over the world, including events in Paris, Glasgow, Warsaw, New York City, London, Seattle, and Vancouver, BC.
He returned to Seattle in 2004 to pursue doctoral work at the Center for Digital Art and Experimental Media at the University of Washington. At DXARTS, his research interests included new forms of hybrid software based works, electroacoustic music, and bodily interfaces for telematic musical performance.
After leaving DXARTS, he worked for several months at Exbiblio, doing website and blog development, IT duties, and Mac software development. Edward is now currently working at eMedia Music, where he is developing instructional music software, as well as developing his own line of Mac based software for artistic real time video installations and lifestyle applications.
